Allie Jane Harris

We are pleased to announce the safe arrival of Allie Jane Harris on December 4, 2013 at 12:15am.  Allie weighed 7 lbs, 6oz and was 20 inches long.  She has beautiful blue eyes and a great dimple on her left cheek.  She has a full head of hair - sort of light brown.  We are totally in love!
Allie's Birth Story:
I had an appointment on Tuesday, December 3 at 2:45pm.  Chris was able to come with me so we could talk to Dr. Huh about our induction options since I was one day past due with our third child!  I was VERY ready to have this baby!  When I went in, I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced.  I just had to get to 4 cm and they'd admit me to the hospital!  We came home after the appointment and then went for a walk up Lovers Lane in the Presidio with Emma girl.  That seemed to do the trick, despite all my attempts to naturally get this baby girl out!  I tried acupuncture, castor oil - only once b/c it tasted pretty awful even when mixed with orange juice, labor cookies, eating lots of pineapple (I know this helped with the effacement), climbing the Lyon Street Stairs, etc.  The contractions started picking up in intensity and were getting closer together.  We decided to go into the hospital about 7:15pm.  They admitted me b/c I was 4cm dilated.  Once we got up into our Labor and Delivery room, I took a long hot shower to help with the labor pains.  Once I was out, the nurse checked again and I was at 6cm.  Then I just labored in the room with Chris and my mom.  We decided to check again and break my water at 10:30pm.  The Doctor came in at about 11pm and broke my water and about an hour later I had to push.  With only one push, little Miss Allie was out!  It was amazing!  Apparently the doctor only had one glove on to catch her she came out so fast.  I was able to go a third time without any medication.  Birth is a very powerful and intense experience. I'm glad I was able to go naturally each time.

P.S. We loved her name and had a very hard time coming up with a middle name.  Allie means harmony and Jane means blessing from God.  A perfect fit for our beautiful baby girl!

Mommy is in love!

Nana is in love too!
After her bath, just relaxing!  She was a very calm baby after her birth.  I'm hoping she'll be a calm child and provide some nice balance in our house!  After all, her name means Harmony :)
