San Francisco Zoo

We managed to make it to the zoo not too long after Caden's birthday. Caden really could have cared less about the animals, instead he was interested in watching all the other kids! I think we'll wait a while before we go back so he can be excited about the animals too. It was the first time any of us had been, and we found it to be quite lovely!

This was pretty cool! I don't think I've ever seen a real peacock spread its feathers like that. He was trying to be very impressive!

Caden is one today!

Wow! What an absolutely amazing year this has been. It went by way too fast. It is hard to imagine that a year ago today, Chris and I were heading to the hospital so that I could deliver Caden. This year has been full of so many surprises! Who knew you could love another person more than words can ever describe. As much as you try to describe the love for your child, no one knows till you've been there too. Parenthood has truly been an amazing experience. We've seen Caden grow up in so many ways! Going from this absolutely helpless little being, to a little guy who laughs, smiles, cuddles, crawls, eats, walks around furniture, talks, and has the best personality anyone could ever hope for in a child. Just think of all the things he has figured out how to do. Caden is such a joy in our lives. He is just a happy little guy!

For Caden's birthday, I had planned on going to the San Francisco Zoo, but it was raining today. Instead, we went to the Aquarium of the Bay down on Pier 39. Caden loved looking at all the fish and sharks...we even got to touch a starfish! We had a great time on our little adventure!

Baby Shower for "Tata"

My older sister Stacey is due to have a baby boy on May 30. Since it has been 8 years since she has had one, my sister Brittany and I decided to throw her a shower to get all the baby essentials! Here are some pictures from the baby shower and also watching cousin Hannah participate in the J.C. Relays. (A track event where the fastest kids from each grade, and each elementary school, compete on a relay team)

Wildflower and Visitors

Chris's sister Clay, Endre and Maren came to visit us in San Francisco and watch Caden while we were fortunate enough to get away and participate in the Wildflower Triathlon. I did the Mountain Bike Tri - a .25 mile swim, 10 mile bike ride (off road) and 2 mile run. Chris did the long course - 1/2 ironman distance - 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run. We camped out the night before in our tent, then both did our race on Sunday. All was going well with the race, but on the way to my second loop, I totally biffed it on a steep rocky hill. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I got pretty banged up and scraped up my hand pretty good! It's a good thing I was wearing pants, so I avoided a lot of road rash on my tumble. I got bandaged up at the next aid station and kept on going. Then about a mile into the run, I literally "ran" into Chris. He came up behind me, asked what happened, was glad I was okay, gave me a big hug, and ran another 12 miles to the finish! It was quite an experience. Not sure if I'll ever ride a mountain bike again...I think that was my first and last time ever! I'll stick to my road bike from now on. Anyways, here are some pictures from the Tri and Maren and Caden.
