Bees

We had quite a scary parenting moment this morning.  Chris took the kiddos outside to play while I was getting things ready for the neighborhood party later that afternoon.  Caden and his friend Olivia were playing hide and seek.  All of a sudden, Caden and Olivia started screaming...they had been swarmed by bees and were getting stung.  (We think Olivia may have stepped on an underground hornet/wasp nest).  Chris rushed Caden inside and we hosed him off with the kitchen sprayer, then stripped him down.  Poor kid had 33 bee stings.  We then went to see Molly (our ER Doc neighbor) and she told us what to look for if he were allergic - puffy lips, swollen hands, etc.  Thank goodness neither Caden or Olivia were allergic to the bee stings.  We put baking soda and water paste on all the stings and then put on some hydro-cortisone cream.  I took both caden and Emma upstairs to the bathroom because the bees had followed Caden into the house.  Chris was then downstairs killing all the bees - he said he probably killed at least 20 inside the house.  It was such a scary and traumatic ordeal.  We are so thankful and blessed that everyone was okay.
